Who make Humbers fuel tanks?

Apparently I can get a 70L fuel tank into my standard Humber console to replace my 2x25L tanks. I've looked around and nobody seams to do one to my required dimensions. Those are :
Wide: 30 cm
Length: 60 cm
Height: 28 cm

Are they made especially for Humber or is there a manufacturer that does these as standard?

by my calculations those dimensions would allow for about a 50L tank....

where did you hear about the 70L tank?

have you tried to give humber a ring, I would have they would know if anyone does...

I would but they sell the tanks individually at £350 or £400 for the 91L version. I find that a bit steep.

you could get one made to measure a firm like www.radtec.co.uk might be able to help

Just do a search for 70l plastic tanks. I had one fitted to my console and it was the same one Humber would have charged me about 2-3 times to buy with the boat.
I can't remember offhand which manufacturer it was but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary or weird.

Or how about fitting another tank alongside your existing one, and then putting a tap between them, so you have a reserve tank in effect?

I did this for the IOM trip, increased my fuel carrying capacity from 40 lites to 65 and now gives me some piece of mind if I'm out of fuel on the main tank, no mid sea fill ups

I currently have 2 portable 25L tanks with a switch to change from one to the other. A single 70L one would have been nice but I have the feeling that Humber have made their consoles a bit wider since they did mine. Nothing bigger than 40L seems to fit width wise. Thanks everybody for your help and links. I'll keep looking just in case. I won't have one made to measure. I might well be changing boat before long so i'll stick with what i've got unless the ideal tank appears at the ideal price.

I have the 2 seater version of youre console, and I think it was designed round the old metal 5 gallon tanks that used to be supplied with almost every outboard made!

Other option is (and I know it's not the neatest way of doing it) is 2 hulk 30L tanks sit nicely across the rear under the enigine. If you have a stub hose on each tank, you then just swap the connector over from one tank to the other. Only problem is it takes up a lot of deck space, which might not be such an issue for you as you have the shorter jockey, sop more room behind it?

The extra weight in the nose is essential as is the deck space for fish box and dive kit (even though I don't need bottles). I currently have a switch between the two tanks, I was hoping to go 70L or more because 50 milles in day in not uncommon and I sometimes do more. I like to keep 1 NM to 1L ratio to give me a 20% - 30% safety zone.

Yeah, If I'm doing dingy rescue the tank at the stern is a pain...... Not such a problem with cruising.

You give the dimensions as 37cm high. I can't believe your seat is that low. Is that just the access hole, (i.e you have a large "mouse hole" under the steering column that allows you to push a tank in form the front) that takes a 25L tank nicely? (I assume you have 2 tanks pushed in under thare at the moment)

It's a slightly radical thought, but could you cut a tank sized hole in the rear of the jockey, install a shelf, and "double stack" them under the seat? (I.e you have 3 25L tanks in there)

Sorry, I thought it was obvious from the photo on my second post. There is a low flat bit between the seat and the console proper. It is where the strap goes on the photo that is only 37cm high. The seat is raised higher because it has storage space and it also makes extra room in the console for the battery, etc ...

Ah, OK, yours must be a "MK2" version of mine - my battery lives under the wheel, where there is a shelf about the level of the dip where your strap goes. I have a hole in the front of the console about the same height as your side hole for the tank. I also have storage under the seat, but it's all of about 4" deep, and so I have a huge amount of headroom underneath where the tank lives. I guess sometime between mine & yours being made someone reckoned that a bit more storage space might be useful!

The battery shelf in the console is at the same height as the "dip" flat bit between the seat and the console. The storage under the seat on mine isn't deep either. I have the impression that the only thing different between our consoles is the opening to the fuel storage area.
