Back on to Yams

Spishsplash

I was speekin to Yam to day at the boat show. They inform me the 480 is being discontinued and they will only sell 430 & 500, they have never seen @ 470, are you sure it 470 & not a 480.

Not that it makes any difference, i'm just interested in Yams.

Pretty sure!

I am quite sure it is a 470....over here they sell the 430, 470, 500 and 550.

I tried to attach a pic...being an ICT manager you would think I'd be more succesful...

Under the message window it says attach file and Browse...I browse to the pic like a good lad, but nothing is shown in the message...it's an ordinary jpg, nothing bigger then 17kb..HELP!

Been enjoying your pics though! What is the performance I can expect with a 40 hp 2 stroke? Being a diver I usually bring everything but the kitchen sink as well as the old ball and chain...

Very good!!!!!!!

I'm gonna have to get this trailer thin sorted out...... mines the old style as you see with a frame and two wheels.

Just shows what the guys on the Yam stand know!!!!

RIB looks great same lay out as me - performance should be great. yours being slightly smaller than mine and having a 40 hp, 2 stroke, compared to my 50hp four stroke - i would suggest it will be pretty much the same.

When do you intend to get it?

Million dollar question...

Yes..when...good question.

Motorbike has to make way for the boat, so after that is settled I have green light...
But a small voice in my head says I can make a better deal in Germany on the BOOT show next winter...(Maybe a 500R for the same money) I'm not sure if I can ignore that voice long enough to sell the bike and go for the 470.

Aint life a bitch...

What bike have you got? I have a KLX250.

I wouldn't have thought you'd have a got a 500 for that kind of money.

Bikers and Ribsters

Currently I own a Honda VF700 Magna...I grew up around bikes and races...but the water got the better of me...

Can't do it all, can I? I had 20 years on the bike, now it is time for something new.
Furthermore I'm an avid diver, and bikes and diving don't mix as well as boats and diving...can't stow away that kind of gear in my saddle bags!

But a KLX250 is serious fun! I used to throw around a KTM400 in the dirt, always a thrill!

Regards!

Hi Eddy

Go for the Boat!

I put it off for years - for various reasons (excuses) - bikes, kids, women, divorce - you name it I used it as an excuse!

The 470 sounds a nice RIB - get it while you can!

( I still have my Norton Commando 850 Interstate though - an old lady now but a real classic!)

She is called 'Topaz'

Topaz is being fitted out by Fineway Leisure in Wroxham, near Norwich. I tried 4 or 5 Avon dealers, and these were by far the most professional, helpful and interested that I spoke to.

They have kept me informed of progress, been very helpful in giving me options to get the best for my money, and Steve, the owner, knows Avons as well as anyone I know. He also put me in touch with different owners he knew to discuss options on engine choice, fitout etc before we closed the deal. He also sent me loads of pictures of various fit out options.

He has kept exactly to schedule, got me a better deal than we agreed on an upgraded trailer, added some nice touches like circuit breakers instead of fuses, a dry pouch for wallets, keys etc, had the consoles specially adapted in various ways and has always advised me as to the pros and cons on cost Vs practicality when discussing options.

In all of this he has kept to the agreed budget.

I would recommend him to anyone considering an Avon.

HISWA

OK OK, you've convinced me (not that I needed much convincing....)
This weekend is the HISWA boat show in Amsterdam and I hope to do some serious business there!

To be continued....
