What is this for......?

On the port side tube of my Zodiac. I have this hole with a screw thread, kind of embedded in a patch. It looks like original equipment, but there is nothing shown on the plan drawings for the boat, as here....

http://www.schlauchboot-service.de/b...ien/Z11346.pdf

It looks like it is for a small flag pole of sorts, but I have nothing with the boat that has a screw thread.

Zodiac used to include a small flag staff that threaded into that piece and included a Zodiac flag.

go to zodiac-nautic.com , use the dealer locator, then give them that part number.

Or, google...you can probably find someone with an e-commerce front.

Thank you for the part number, found one on ebay from Chas Newens. £15.10 though.

Put that on my list of things to purchase....!

RIBase
The Zodiac pennant/flag is a nice touch, but invariably it gets broken, with ropes, handling, etc. Lost count of the time I had to Araldite mine on my old MKII CGT.

Do you know what mate, since finding the one on ebay, I have looked at it a few times now, and the same thought has gone through my grey matter. I am now thinking is it worth £15, when I have 3 kids jumping around the boat, let alone me and all my gear.

A lot of people around here used to change the Zodiac flag for a dive flag. Wasn't ideal, as it's too small and too low. Better than nothing, I suppose.

It's a goofy little "Frenchie" throwback accessory that nobody seems to use anymore.

They still come standard on the Classic and Futura though!

I use quite a long pole, in the fishing rod holder, with a flag 'alpha' on, must be about 6 foot tall, and the flag is quite a large one. I would class it as being very visible.

On monday when I went scuba diving, anchored up, flag up, missus on boat and down I go, to about 10 metres depth. After about 15 minutes, I could hear the drone of an engine, and actually thought to myself, that sounds quite large and very close. When I resurfaced, my missus was furious, as one of the local pleasure ferrys/ sight seeing boats had come past, within about 6 metres of our boat............!
And these are meant to have professional skippers...!
