I always wear a lifejacket even when I am working on the Tug, I don'r really know whether to wear an Auto or a Manual. I tend to waer Manuals but I think I should really wear Auto's.

All in all I am in a Kwandree, about it. I would be interested to know what the Konsensus is

Offshore waterproofs or drysuit, with auto lifejacket. When on lifeboat always drysuit, helmet and man lifejacket, just incase i have to get in water quickly.

Manual.. The girls both have auto's tho.. I was gonna get an auto, but on the theory I might hafta jump into the water to get to them, I wanted the option of whether or not my lifejacket was inflated..

I wear a mustang floater suit, its nice because its a life jacket as well as beiing very warm. Very rarely wear the drysuit.

What good is a manual if you are knocked unconscious? Aside from lower cost, what advantage would a manual have over an auto? Are the autos highly reliable or are they prone to premature inflation, or not inflating at all when needed?

Mustang makes some excellent floater suits. I haven't yet splurged on one, but this is probably the best time of year for me to buy one. Up until now I've been using a fairly basic Coast Guard approved vest style PFD, which wouldn't provide much warmth in cold water.

OceanEco, What do your clients wear?

I always wear an auto jacket but depends on the weather and what I'm doing as to what else. Wet suit, waterproofs, jeans and t-shirt, shorts etc.
This time of year I would probably wear a cabin!

Drysuit (with thermals & polar bear suit underneath)
Crewsaver (Seafire?) Twin chambered SOLAS lifejacket, both chambers are auto inflation. Plus safety knife on a lanyard and small strobe/torch, clipped on lifejacket belt.
hat, gloves & ski goggles/sun glasses.

Quite a lot when written down isn't it?!!
