Well you are obviously wasted in IT because you are an incredible locksmith What method do you use Des.

It's more like I'm useless at IT than wasted at it .

It was over ten years ago but the back two pins just need to be excited a bit to get them in the correct position. The older the lock the easier it is due to general wear. Yales locks were the biggest disappointment to me as at the time that's all I had on my front door.

Back onto subject you want a balance between the insurance companies requirements and not encouraging the tea-leafs to damage your boat.

At the end of the day if they want your boat there doing to have it.

I'll second that. It takes me about 2 mins to take mine off with the key and spanner. It has a 7 pin barrel lock which spins if you try to drill it. You buy a size to suit the wheel/tyre, which is much better than a "universal fit" clamp. Also it weighs about 10Kg so it will not fly off if someone tries to dive away with it.

The down side is it will cost you around £85.00.

Sorry guys but you have to face the reality that if they want it, they'll have it.

Nothing you will EVER do will stop them from having it. The best defence is out of site out of mind. If nobody knows where it is you can't nick it - Simple!

I have seen boats;
with two wheel clamps, one on each axle, nicked;
engines removed via chain saws;
engines removed by hydraulic sheers;
hiab beaver tail lorries used to pick the whole lot up;
hiabs and shipping contaniers (£100k fisheries rib stolen and the lorry was stopped on the M6 by Cheshire Police using a GPS and GSM tracker!).

So really hide it, and they can't touch it!!!

Its £345 but surely if you hide this thing well enough in your boat it even comes with its own bakup battery in case the thieves disconnect the power - surely this will greatly increase your chances of getting a stolen RIB back.

Much bigger jammers are available which will take out a whole office block - worrying when you realise the Police now use a digital radio system - WHEN will people realise that analogue still has major advantages - digital is all or nothing!!!
