Tube Protection Reccomendations

Hi everyone,

What recommendations do you have for tube protection? I have new black tubes which I want to put a protection on. I’ve used August Race UV in the past but I’m finding it’s leaving the black tubes streaky and I can’t get an even coverage.

I use the “Original” one. Didn’t know they did a range, that must be a new thing.

I don’t rate the August race stuff. This works well but needs a quick reapplication reasonably often:

Armour all is ok, but slippery as feck when it gets wet.

Hi Chris, have you heard of Ultraflex before? this is typically a coloured paint but also available as a clear paint that you can roller on yourself, not only does it protect from the UV it also is anti mould & scuff resistant, it is hydrophobic and non slippery. The coast guard in New Zealand have been using this for the last 8 years on one application, it's not cheap but you get what pay for and is cheaper than new tubes. Ocean Art are the sellers in the UK.

Aurora Polyguard- it is not slippery once dry like 303 is. It is a paste rather than a spray. It also offers longer protection.

Keep Armor All away from any inflatable. It contains products that break down the fabric.

uv protection6

Really only posting this as forum has gone a bit quiet - and i still want to pick your brains on this subject - uv protection.
Best advise was to go with Aero space, but unfortunately cant be found in the Emerald Isle - so I started using "Son of a Gun" car polish because of its stated sunlight advantages. Am I on the wrong track, bearing in mind we had a hotter June and september than Iberia
- my next question might be "rain protection" since July, August and October were proper shite and hardly got in it at all (Im a fair weather ribber and like my comforts)
Keep up the great work and advise
