Anyone got any good tips on what to add to elbow grease to bring tubes back to looking like new?

Go to your local motor factors and buy a gallon of Traffic Film Remover. That will get rid of the worst of the dirt.
Then Jif and Cillit Bang work a treat with good old fashioned Soap Flakes to follow and those nice little Vileda scrubby sponges.
If you have children they always need money so get them to work for a few pounds. They love it and it saves you the elbow grease.
