Transom rating

Hi All,

New to this forum. I have recently bought a Ribtec Camel Trophy that I’m resorting as a personal project.

Does anyone here happen to know what the Ribtec 6,55m (yr 2000) transom is rate for max out board size. I know it was ‘supplied’ to the Camel Trophy event with a Honda 130hp 4 stroke - well so far my research had indicated.

In short I would like to upgrade to a more modern 4 cylinder 4 stroke higher capacity HP.

Looking forward to your replies.

RIBase
If I recall correctly, we ran two of them as charter boats and replaced the Hondas with 200hp Opti's (2-stroke). Insurance was ok with that so I guess they must have been rated for at lest those?

I wouldn't guarentee that, you know what insurance companies are like.

Definitely talk to your insurer first, they might be fine, they might not.....

with a "retro" boat like that, wouldn't it be fun to run a 2 stroke engine of its era. The advantage being that you can get a lot more hp for the weight.
