Throat mikes

Has anybody had any experience of using throat mikes and do the RNLI use themy

I work on the coast for the RNLI and I’ve never seen them used. Normal helmet mics are used on the geckos.

Tried the voice activated ones 30 odd years ago at work.
Total PITA to wear esp when moving or driving, not particularly clear when passing messages, coughs & general talking between team members would set them off, usually at inopportune moments.
Very rapidly replaced by earpiece, small mike & a pressel switch - the last on a long wire worn down the inside of the sleeve to whichever hand you preferred.
