Gordon had a 20 twatsue on his I believe, not read the specs just cast a beedy on it, nice and wide I think it's 4.2 long so a good length, flatfish floor and the ride a lot better than his honwave, performance was well up there with our 25's mind gurnard's and mine weigh in at 100,120 bare boats. He also had an inflateable bow dodger which was great for his dog to hide out of the weather. Enjoy mate full report of course when you get her out

From all I've heard and that's been said on here reckon it will be a good choice PD. Something of a bargain compared with a Futura too.

SAS black?

Yeah, less than a third of the price of the futura which was a bonus. I got a good deal on the package with the engine, so if we don’t like it, we’ve got a cheap engine[emoji106] We went for the red one for a change, thought it might improve the visibility in a SAR situation.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

I like an orange SIB Jeff but rare these days. Remember older brands in orange like Beaufort, Metzeler, Novurania, Humber etc. I reckon if you could wait Excel would special order you one in orange... they are one of the few SIB makers with a decent colour choice.

So this is a tender? How is it stored? Davits or on deck?

IMO if you cant Davit a RIB then a Hypalon SIB is a good option. Easy to pack away when winterising. Or leave covered, Hypalon will last 30-40 years so maybe even covering isnt necessary but will save some wear and sun burn.

Id go a 3.8 and 9.8hp Tohatsu 2 stroke for a family of 4. It wont be fast but should plane. A 15hp even better but you will need a winch on the yacht for the outboard then. Where the 9.8 is the same weight as an 8hp 2 stroke. 4 stroke and all beats are off, whatever goes and you will need a winch due to being 15kg heavier.

That would be a good rig. The Tohatsu being the same weight as the 15hp yammy and futuras are awesome SIBs. 3.8-4.2, doesnt matter too much.

Or on the Cheap the Honwave T38 are easy to plane and matched with the 18hp tohatsu would go great guns. Very cheap but cheerful setup.

yeah sorry I did read the OP, but seems Im a bit confused. this is not a tender for a yacht?

Anyway, without reading the 12 pages of content, what have you decided to go with? Always exciting getting a new toy.

Excel Volaire?

Seems to go well with the 20hp, but Id have gone a 18hp Tohatsu myself. More torque in two stroke. 4 stroke much heavier and takes more time to get to plane. I had a 40hp 3cyl Yammy, I had it propped for hole shot. with 6 aboard, near instant plane. The 4 stroke, takes about 5 seconds or so. But depends how real world that difference matters.

Seems like a good bit of kit for a very cheap price. Bombard built the best fully inflatable hypalon sib imo in the Aerotec 380 but I believe no longer in production. As close to a RIB feel as you can get in an inflatable floor. I nearly bought one. If just boating I think these type SIBs are great.

How well the Excel goes will be interesting to hear back on...
