Thames on the rib

Hi Guys,

I am thinking about taking the boat up to london later in the year to take my partners parents along the thames.

Question is - what is going to be the easiest place to take my boat to, so that I can launch it and not have to travel through london too much with the boat on the back?

Any information would be good.

Thanks

Ben

Putney is a good place to drop the boat is as they have a very large slipway and the parking is free (as long it is after 10.30 weekdays)with space for approx 50 cars. There are lots of rowing clubs so it sometimes gets a bit busy.
The exact place is the the Embankment which runs next to the end of Richmond Road (B306) if you were coming from Southampton you just need to get onto the A3 and turn right onto A219 follow that until you come to Putney Bridge turn left just before the bridge into B306 then bear right into the Embankment.

When you get on the water you will have to obey the 8 knot speed limit until you get to Wandsworth Bridge but that is only about 7-10 min as it is the next bridge.

Hope this helps

Marc

Sorry turn left off A3 not right otherwise you will be playing tennis in wimbledon instead of cruising the Thames.
