SR6 under deck tank

I spent hours searching on the internet and also here on Ribnet but there are not too many infos out about the SR6 .
There are boats which come with under deck inbuilt tank (40 gallons?) while other SR6 have the cans under the seat or elsewhere .
Was the inbuilt tank an option ? Was it related whether the boat was commercial or rescue ?
Depending on year of manufacturing ?
Has somebody an idea ?

SR6 Under Deck Tank

Hi Bushrider,
I will have a look at my copy of the "As Issued Paper Copy of the 5.4 / 6.0 Technical Handbook"- mid 1990's version, I obtained from Avon Wales. anything of use I shall post or pdf to a personal email address. I have a 5.4 so no built in tanks. Cheers Iain

I've had 2 sr6's from the usmc and us coast guard. Both have no under deck tank. They use above deck tanks. Would be nice to have an under deck tank but I would think that would interfere somewhat with the flooding hull

I have never seen an sr6 with a built in fuel tank

Hi Iain ,
Thanks for your reply !
I have an manual for the SR range including the SR6 and also the attached drawing but its all about the version with the tanks on the deck ..
My email is bushrider65 at aol.com

The SR6 I just bought has the under deck tank , has a different console / seating and even a bow locker . I have the HID number but cannot identify the age of the boat ..

Hi Bushrider. Nice to see who bought that SR6 - I very nearly did. Looks very tidy. I had a 2000's built SR6 a few years ago which also had the cans arrangement - the one you have is the only one I've ever seen with built in tank.

Hi Tim , the under deck tank was a BIG bonus with this boat !
Running all the time with cans to feed 2 hungry Yamahas is not that easy ..
Another great thing is to expand the range I can store 2x 25l cans where the life raft is stored now .
Makes already 200 liters .
If I still need more I have a couple of the 35 liter bladders .
Went yesterday to pick up an early ETEC 90 .
Hope to get over the next couple of month another one to replace the 2x 60 Yamahas .Click image for larger version

You can search for user 'stress pill' as he has the SR6 with a builtin tank.

Mine (1991) has a water ballast instead. But I converted the boat to add a 40 Gallon tank and placed it where the tank was.

I might have an older manual for the SR6 w/out internal tank. DM w/ email and I can mail it.

Good point ! I was only told my boat has a 150l tank - I could actually never really check it out .
Last time filling her up I nearly got 150l in so then I started thinking may be the tank is bigger ..
Will see in spring when I make her totally empty to calibrate the fuel gauge .

Spent in september some time at the mediterranean with the SR6 in various conditions and mostly long distance cruising .
Should not compare with my previous diesel Scorpion but Iam very happy with the boat .
Also the question with the volume of the under deck tank is now solved - get in 203 liters which gives me an excellent range plus the easy to store 3x 20l cans under the front of the console .
Have some storage for other stuff and do not waste the limited deck space with fuel canisters .
If it comes to extreme I can still fit in 2x 35l fuel bladders under the tubes .
Reminds me my 5.4 setup during RI in 2013 .
The SR6 is a great little boat !
