Spirit-of-Cardiff at RIBEX

RIBEX 17-19th May, Ocean Village

We have been offered entrance and the chance to do some fundraising at the RIBEX show on Saturday 18th May
Open 10:00 - 18:00

I am looking for a further five volunteers / enthusiasts
("people that can get money out of other people")
that would be willing to spend a few hours with me, wearing SOC merchandise - you got to buy this yourself - but most of you got the shirt already anyway; handing out leaflets, carrying a bucket and generally making people aware of the SOC and the whole project.

Entrance for you will be free - but I am limited to five plus myself and I would like a few hours dedicated fundraising, then you can go and play - or you can play in between.

Please let me know sometime over the week-end.

It will be a first come, first signed up, with perhaps a few reserves.

I am looking at coming down on the Friday anyway - Brian - and can always meet up with anyone then as well - but Saturday we have been given FREE run of the show.

Hm, gone very quiet.

If you lot are busy not to worry, have had a chat with James and Wayne(AP's sons) and they may come down.

Sorry Nadia, only going on Friday and will be very pushed for time as, weather permitting, I'm hoping to get down to Plymouth Friday evening to pick up Magellan Alpha (ex-B4) to join Brian on his West Country cruise. Or, the way those Atlantic lows are shaping up, his survival exercise...

Quick update:

Looks like the crew will be from Cardiff and SOC family.

SDO, we should be okay.

I'd be more than willing to help. I live in Southampton and have done for years, but I am lucky enough to have been born in Cardiff. So your crew is still coming from Cardiff.

If I can offer any constructive help outside of the Exhibition, then I'd be happy to help. If you want to sell rides on either of my Ribs then I'll happily provide the driver, boat and fuel.

We can give you a couple of Powerboat Training courses which you can Raffle/ Auction

Also if there are 3 of you coming up from Cardiff I can arrange for you to stay on a yacht in the Next Marina for free, unless you have already sorted yourself out.

SOC at RIBEX

Total raised was £295.05

Many thanks to all those that gave their time and their money and most of all their continuous enthusiasm

Thanks also to Michaela and Hugo for allowing us all free entry into the event and letting us shake our buckets at the crowds.

A big thanks to Stuart and Britt for joining us Cardiff volunteers and family helpers in helping and the tremendous amounts of helpfull advice and good ideas I got from meeting and chatting to so many of you.

Keep you ears to the ground for info re the farewell party!
