Solent Ribs

Help needed (again) 😀

I am looking to buy a RIB for general fun with friends and family in and around The Solent. Some water skiing may also be tried!
I also have aspirations to chase the Fastnet and Round the Island races as a camera platform.

I am looking at a Solent Rib 690. It's fitted with a Suzuki 175 4 stroke.

I am particularly interested in the forum's opinion on the build quality of these RIBs as well as opinion on the hull.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Ian

Solent's suffered somewhat with not great build quality. Seats and consoles delaminating from the deck is a very common issue. Likewise is soggy decks, leaking fuel tanks and transom issues. I had a 6.9 where the transom knees starting delaminating from the transom. If you are serious about the boat make sure you check it over very comprehensively. After sea trial take the drain plugs out and check for any signs of fuel in there as this was a really common issue.
