Solent Hazards

For those of you not lucky enough to live in Southampton, or any other place on the Solent. then I guess the waters are strange to you.

There is a good book called Solent Hazards which I think is written by Peter Bruce which shows all the drying zones and other problems. I saw it for sale in a Clothing shop in Cowes which is called Aquatogs and is just on the Corner of the entrance to Cowes Yacht Haven. The Shop was shut so I coudln't investigate further.

I'll be over at Cowes today and I'll get the ISBN number and Price and Find out if they do mail order if anybody wants a copy.

Videos

If you haven't looked at John's "publications\videos" section, I recommend that you look (and buy!)...

http://www.rib.net/video.htm

The "RIB cruising" video has some familiar faces

And the "Extreme RIBs" has a superb section featuring a pair of Ocean Dynamics RIBs, one is intentionally flooded by stuffing into a standing wave in the Sound of Ramsey off the South Wales coast. Superb

Apparently the same production company have a production of RB4 in the making... Hmm, that could be controvertial

I suppose you could always plead "Act Of God"

Seriously though, I would hope that the radar gun operator would take into account the prevailing conditions before he issued the ticket.

I was on the Scillies cruise featured in the RIB cruising video, crewing on the boat I now own which also features. Sadly the video doesnt feature the interesting passage back from the Scillies in a F6 where HMS dissappeared into the murk leaving half the cruise behind and I managed to knock lumps out of Brian's Avon!

Believe the RB4 Video will never see the light of day as the camera chappie has too many other things on. Bit out of date now as well. A shame though as he had some good footage.

Alan, you had a "cameo" in the video, didn't you? Anyway, I thought it did cover the passage back from the Scillies in the F6... We'll have to have a chat in Plymouth.
