Am I mad?
No not mad - that is exactly the concept behind the XS-Ribs that Barnet Marine sell.

They have 4 hull types, 1 kind of jockey, 2 console types and a few feature options. Engines usually Optis, but can be specified by the owner. You can have extras if you want, but of course they cost.

The limited choice keeps costs down (not so many moulds to maintain and build, less storage required). Also the boats are built by a 'secret' manufacturer who have huge GRP capacity, but need better cashflow and to keep staff interested and occupied. My guess is that its a superyacht maker or similar.

The boats are made in 1 place, and fitted out at the Barnet shop.

It seems a good idea, and helps Barnet sell more ribs than Tornado are able to produce in a year.

I am well versed in ladies underwear. I just think the idea of selling a 9M cabin rib in Knickerbox on Waterloo station may be a tad ambitious

From talking to the Barnet guys. Are there other industries that would do large GRP projects, that bring in millions one month, nothing for the next few? I cant think of any, but that could be just me

I am tempted to refer to a garment that all ribbers seem to wear in bad weather. However, if used in this present context, some members of RIBnet with suspicious minds could think I was being crude so I shall shut up before I get into deeper water. I am worried about getting another slap from Richard B - or even worse, a burst of wrath from Louise.
