dog

our H loves the boat first one in every time got him a big padded cushion for comfort lays there all day no matter what the weather throws at us obviously we don't go out if the forecast is bad enough to be a problem for him or us.
he did want to get in for a swim when i took the pics of the basking shark though.

Our previous dog Bob was an easy customer.
I bought a toy boat, put a plywood bottom in and that was it. The dog preferred that over swimming and so did we because a wet dog in a small boat can be messy.
Tried it once with the terrier who immediately started rocking the boat, then jumped off to see what was under it...

Looking forward to getting my Beagle on board this summer, floatation jacket purchased, safety line sorted! He's only just getting over his dislike of car travel so should be interesting!

Looking forward to getting mine out too. He's had 'acclimatisation' training in the sib on the Thames so far and loved it.

We've been lucky over the last 35+ years in that our three Spitz dogs over that time have readily taken to both car travel and boating. Current German Spitz in our Zodiac 340 last year. He's on the small side of medium size so idea for sibbing.. particularly with the lifejacket handle arrangement.

Don't have any pics, but my Aussie Shepherd/Border Collie mix pretty much hates being on the boat. Spends the whole time running up front, then hopping back on the pilot bench. Over and over. And I'm always afraid she's going to try and leap to the dock a little earlier than possible. She does stay on the boat while I dive, though - never tried to hop off (yet.)

Our Irish terrier enjoys pootling about, but not anything speedy or bumpy. Then he's not keen on swimming either so at least we don't have to stop him jumping overboard.

Awesome !! Patch used to run about too, my main concern was claws vs tubes, I take her sup'ing too and she runs about more which normally means I get wet :-/

"Tramp", purebred Schnauzer. I've learned to keep the bow bag full of gear so he has a platform to stand on. He loves boat rides, but hates the water.
