Scratched Tubes

My tube is scratched as if i tried to slice it with a knife. The thin outer skin (coloured rubber part) is cut and can see the fabric. Obviously its not heavily damaged or a danger. But I would like to cover this up; and maybe close the cut. If I use the rubber paint to close off this cut and not to show, you think that this will work?

Any more ideas?

Any more ideas?

You may be better by applying a large fender like patch.
and one the other side to match.
I don't think paint would be the solution.
