Scorpion cabin rib – Iona

Have any of you guys seen / lucky enough to own Iona, she is a Scorpion cabin rib with a blue tubes and a blue hull? Saw her at the P1 power boat racing off Cowes a few weeks ago, fabulous looking boat.

Unfortunately not - I'm looking at getting a cabin rib so woudl love to hear any views on merits / negatives of the various types out there. The Zar looks ' interesting ' for the money but not sure about the look . Apart from that the shearwater or Aquaflyte ?

Saw thhe beast of one at Soton Boat show with 2 new Yam 350s on the back - a little too much power for me !

Scorpion Cabin Rib

Hi,

Ive been lucky enough to go on 3 of Scorpions Cabin Ribs and driven them. They are amazing bits of kit that are awsome in the rough and look great. Graham Jelly's new one is ready in Feb next year and its even better. Here's a pic of it

Scorpion Cabin Rib

The others run at around 53Knots Plus so imagine this will be the same.

That is a crazy price - you could get something like a Cranchi Endurance 41 or a Fairline Targa for that sort of money!!!

But you will only have a gin palace , and having been on a Fairline in a force 7
and seen how it was slowly falling to pieces, you have to helm a
Scorpion Sports cruiser to understand just what makes it so special.

I wouldn't describe the hard tops as Gin Palaces - and for that money you could probably have a Hunton 37 and that's one hell of a machine!!!

I have been on a Targa 37 which is near enough.

I am NOT knocking the Scorpion - just wondering how they can justify the price when you can get much more boat for the money.

Yep... I've been out on a Scorpion Sportscruiser in an F10 at 50kts+ and it's a helluva ride. If you're a sceptic then get yourself out on one. If you don't have the contacts then let me know. If you're not willing to get out one one before commenting, then quite frankly, you're like a virgin saying that sex is overrated.

And quite a few people do, because that's what they want. Horses for courses . . .

Easy. They have no problem selling all the boats they can make. What more justification do you want?

You don't want to buy one, which is fine. I think most people have got the message now.

John

From what I understand the order books are full for the cabin boat.

Maybe Graham should put the price up

Cheers

must have been a friday afternoon boat then, my targa 37 never had problems in the rough stuff...as JK says, horses for courses, but I wouldnt have swapped the 37 for a scorpion regardless of weather...
