I use one of these on my buoyancy aid, NRS Pilot Kayak Rescue Knife mounted on a lashtab.

It is razor sharp, blunted tip for safety and you can draw it one handed.

On my lifejacket I use one of the little yellow folders, above, and have the standard Spinlock cutter tucked into its little pouch on the right side.

The one handed draw/opening point is a good one.
With the Spiderco Salt like (like almost all Spideys).although a Folder...it's an EASY one handed opener, somthing which could be crucial in an awkward situation..in rough conditions especially ..a decent lanyard is always a good idea too.
And if you're OCD and or the clumsy type ..or just feel the need..you can stick a float on it!
