RNLI Stonehaven

With the sad end of the Maritime Rescue Institite -one of the few independent lifeboats around britain- Due to a lack of money, and a lot of storm damage, it has been announced that the RNLI will be coming in with an Atlantic 85. Having been on the MRI crew a couple of years ago, I am quite excited at the prospect of this. A fresh new boat, and set of training!

Quite an exciting time for boat owners around the town, as we've been covered by Aberdeen and Montrose for the last wee while, which is just no use, as the Aberdeen boat is 30 minutes away, and complete overkill for towing in a rib or something small!

Bring it on!

Good luck with the new boat. I still think it was a disgrace that for some insurance money MRI could not be saved. However there is still a need for that type of craft operating there. Do you know what's happening to the building, the MRI boats and all of the kit??
