It is not bad, low bridges over head and shallow mud under bottom. Getting the timing right with the tide is pretty important.

I recommend using a canoe.

Edit: Wikipedia has a lovely diagram, makes it look like the London Underground.

when I used to keep my rib at Littlehampton Marina we used to go up to Arundel quite a lot. of course you had to bear in mind the tides. At high water at Arundel you cannot get under the bridge if you have an A frame. No problem in a kayak.
if you look up some of the old posts refering to Littlehampton Cruises you may come across some trips up the Arun. On a nice day and with the tides right you could lunch at the Black Rabbit.

As with Andre - we have taken our SIB from Littlehampton to Arundel on a number of occasions - its a nice trip and a good pub if you can get to it

Andy if you are thinking of popping up at some point do let us know if you want some company - if we can would be good to join you - no pressure though

Does the Black Rabbit do B & B or is there a nice hotel/B&B close by? I seem to remember the pub has a small jetty or pontoon...

I am not so sure you will find a safe place in Arundel to moor up for the night
