Ribtec 6.5 2004 Purchase

Hi there

Looking at purchasing a RIB and was trying to determine whether they are category B or C? Does anyone know if there is a hull no marked on Ribtec boats, other than on the CE plate (the plate is worn and unclear).
Was advised that by 2004 if would have been made by ribeye is that correct? Did have a search on the site, so apologies if this has already been answered.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn’t get hung up on categories. As far as I know it’s easier to get a cat c rating so there are many that could be cat b that are not coded. It’s more about the hull shape

Hi Neil

Thanks for coming back. Just asking as the plan was to look at coding her to category 3, so extending the operating range outside the solent, hence the question.

Thx Dave

My 2004 Ribtec 9m has a HIN number stamped into the transom exterior, just below the starboard tube cone.

But 2004 seemed to be a bit of a transition year between the previous Ribtec owners and Ribeye, and when I contacted Ribeye in Dartmouth they couldn't help with any information or knowledge for Ribtecs of that age and seemed to indicate all paperwork had been lost.

Mine has its' hull number typed into what looks like dyno tape, and then stuck on the inside of the mould, therefore the number is in reverse on blue tape, and as you say that's below the starboard tube cone on the outside of the transom. It then has a different number on a plate inside the transom.

I wonder if all the records have been lost or Ribeye just couldn't be bothered.
