Ribex

Hi All,

Have been talking to the organiser about offering a show premium pick up service.

In other words, book or buy your ticket and you could be picked up by Scorpion rib and taken to Ribex, just call the booking hotline etc.

Thoughts?

Regards
Stuart

Decision would be weather dependent on the day for me. I like to at least start dry, and stay dry as long as I can.

Ha Ha. Well spotted.

Hey, when you get weather like we sometimes get around here, you don't half relish the chance to stay dry when you can. Especially if you're going to be spending the day wandering around a show and not wrapped up in a drysuit.

To be fair - if the conditions are right I'd much sooner go by RIB, so there's my vote!

I did this for Ribex and a number of other events last year, through Evolution Ribs. We mainly used Tim's 7.1m Solent with about 6 people on board, but for some of the bigger cowes events had a couple more ribs going backwards and forwards from Lymington, the Hamble, Portsmouth, Southampton etc, anywhere anyone wanted to go really.

It's do-able, and we will definitely be doing it again (and cheaper this year!), but as pointed out above, it's largely weather dependant, and you never seem to be able to accurately run to time!

Thanks for the comments.

Jimbo,

Did you do this with Hugo or just as a stand alone service?

Regards
Stuart

Totally stand alone - as it's not limited to Ribex, it's more a general sort of water taxi service, so we haven't, as yet, specifically tied in with event organisers.

As Jimbo says, last year we offered a general water taxi service. There was quite a lot of up-take from the big events and it tended to be people wanting to get home rather than getting there.

Has anyone set up the Rib transfer to Ribex yet?
We are coming over on the 10th, and it would be a great fun to go by Rib to Ribex..

If the weather is crap you'd maybe need a premium drysuit cloakroom facility as well. Just a though and not that difficult to sort.

Ok ....
maybe the ferry would be a better option!!( not as much fun though)
The fast ferry only goes to East Cowes..is it easy enough to get to Ribex. or should I get the slow Ferry to West Cowes?
Thanks
Tony

It's the other way round... if you get the slow ferry you'll also have a long walk (or swim)!

You fall into RIBex when you step off the Red Jet.

Hi Tony,

Yep, Tim and I have set it up - go to http://www.evolutionribs.co.uk/events.htm for more details.

Cheers,

Jimbo
