RIB with 8 engines?

I heard today that a rib said to be almost 50ft in length with eight outboard engines and a cabin, was moved from Lowestoft by road to the HM Customs pound in Felixstowe or Harwich.
Apparently it had been impounded due to illicit use. The rib is said to be capable of carrying 8 tons.
This info came from someone who knows the transport man who did the move.
Anyone know more?

John

Sounds like it was a Crompton being impounded following the recent police operation. See this thread: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4377

If is comes up for auction are you considering an upgrade from Blue Ice?

Probably connected to the bloke who runs (ran!) Crompton RIBS being arrested for alledgedly drug smuggling!

How the hell does one control 8 engines simultanesously?
The most I have found is a 4 way throttle.
There must be a point when you just know fewer, bigger, inboards are the way to go.
