Didn't need the internet then, we all new each other

Actually the first version of Ribnet appeared and then disappeared in 1997. Brought back by JK after all the membership (about a dozen of us) said oi, and so it was Ribnet was recreated.

It's funny I was saying to someone the other day how "back in the day" at what I think was the 2nd ribnet conference we didn't have smart phones and were using the hotel PC to post on ribnet !!

I met a lot of great people through ribnet 2002-4/5 ish some of who I would still call good friends. Despite being off the scene for a few years like all good friends you can pick up where you left off.

"Ballistic" my originally named ballistic is tucked up on a berth in Ramsgate now - here's the hi tec Nav centre that got us 240nm back over the last two days...

And here is my favourite instrument of all time (the bottom one) having used one extensively on magellan and had the optimax facility before that I would want to be without a floscan.

The downside is when we hit 45knts today it was reading off the scale.

Last post for now, here's a couple shorts of the job ed (ribraf) has done on the tubes. We all agreed they look ace & he went the extra mile to help us out by launching in Dartmouth and lending us his shed to overhaul the electronics before we set off.

Pic 1 is the fairlead ed made up at my request - pretty standard setup for a ballistic but great for using an anchor and also means the painter stores neatly when under way.

Pic 2 tube top detial.

Now where did those ballisic decals get to Ed ?

There is a bow cushion too but I only template'ed that yesterday.

I need to get some of that adhesive foam tape 20mm wide and 5mm high approx to renew seal around the top of the jockeys - any ideas?

I'm really pleased with the job "browns trimming" have done. I won't post their number here as it's a mobile but PM me anyone who's interested. It's all proper Marine grade vinal, stainless staples and they replaced all the ply bases too.

I got a 20% discount as I'm in a local car club and having talked to them they will offer this discount to RIBnet members if people mention it AND would turn stuff around in about a week by post.

I thought the full price quote of £505 was good but after a discount I paid £410. They've done a few single
Jockeys locally and for base with backrest you'll get change out of £100.

Cheers lads. First job Tuesday!

I'm up for a cruise next weekend (it's my birthday) if you get your boat out of the field Nos.

Weather permitting I might tow to Solent & dash to Alderney otherwise perhaps a quick channel dash to Dunkirk from here (prob too far for you to tow). I'll put a post in the cruise forum once the weather forecast is clearer.

Oh, also fitted new Raymarine plotter and Raymarine depth yesterday. I'll probably replace the VHF with a DSC next week too. Although I stock vhf's I don't keep the icom adapter plate from the old 505 shape to the new 323/423 shape.

I'd like to go bigger with the plotter Click image for larger version

Hello
I have a 1996 Zodiac Projet 427 with an inboard 115 hp. Got it free from
my sister. Sat in her backyard for several years. Needs a cylinder cover
(outside piece) but parts hard to come by. Don't know if jet even works
after so many years idle. It has a TJE0 engine. No way to put outboard so I'd have to replace with an inboard. Can one even get an engine that would work. Has OMC parts. Worth getting new engine? see posted pics.
