RIB Identification

Hello all,

I have recently purchased a RIB, and we are having trouble identifying the make, so I wonder if anyone will be able to shed some light? Details below...

The only information that we have is that it is from the 1980's, and was perhaps an RNLI or Royal Navy training RIB.

She's 16 feet long.

The tubes are an interesting design - the outer tubes slide off (see pictures) allowing easy access to the 5 sponsons underneath. Also, the tubes are attached to the hull by straps.

The helman's position has storm foot-holds.

Hopefully these details will be enough for someone with a wealth of knowledge to identify it. I have attached some pictures, apologies for the quality - they were taken on my mobile 'phone.

Thank you in advance...!

NB I have confirmation that is it not Delta- or Humber-made, so that narrows it down slightly!

If you bought this from a fella in North wales then it's one I was thinking of buying too. I asked about it on here and someone thought it was a tornado hull.
There was another exactly the same on the south coast on ebay earlier this year and was listed as a RNLI training RIB, the same as you've stated.
If it is the same RIB then you got it for a good price!

It is the same RIB... but I'm not convinced we got it at as good a price you think!

Tornado is the hull that has been creeping up; however, the surveyor seemed to think that it wasn't a Tornado. The plot thickens.

Would anyone have any ideas how to contact Tornado? Are they still 'about' these days?

Anthony the RN had a Tornado 4.9m rib aboard quite a few of their ships in the 80 and 90s. Tough little boats so their are quite a few still around. Notice you have removable tubes enabling a change on board a ship.

They used to be built in Hull (but the web site isn't working ) and normally sold though Barnet Marine so you could try them or the factory,

Pete,

That was exactly the sort of information I was hoping for - thank you!

I do have another challenge though... I need to try to get as much information on it as possible, e.g. model and specs etc. Would anyone be able to help with this bit?

Fingers crossed! Thanking you all.

Anthony

I'll ask the Ribnet solicitors; Sue, Grabbit and Fleece to put together a suitable contract

I would print that off if it will let you and also save an electronic copy on your pc less the information is deleted.

BTW have you seen how much BR67 are now worth, have a look on Amazon, £104 is the cheapest
