Rib hire, south france/north spain on the med

I am looking to go on holiday next summer either south France or northern Spain on the med, I did consider taking my rib but towing or getting it transported put me off! Does anyone know how much a rib would cost to hire and what I would need? If anyone had done this with places they recommend please tell or know roughly how much it would cost to transport my 6.2m rib.

Cheers

Search the internet, all the information is there but I am sure others will help as well, here is one to start with Rental Cherokee 495 from the charter base Port Grimaud in France - n°6836-373

We tow a 5 metre SIB to the South of France or Northern Spain each year. I'd need to check with the wife but I'm pretty sure there's no extra to pay for a boat on a trailer at the tolls. A quick search on the internet reckons it will cost approx 100 Euros for Calais to Frejus which sounds about right.

Routes: preparing your routes on french motorways - ASFA

I'd imagine that it would be much less expensive to take your own RIB rather than renting one whilst you're there.

The place that we go to in Northern Spain has a beach that we just leave the boat on each night. There's a metal post on the beach and we just pull the boat up the beach and chain it to the post. I'm not sure if that would be feasible with the weight of a 6.2 metre RIB though.

We've also been to a site near Frejus in the South of France which has a river that leads directly to the sea. The site has a limited number of mooring berths but as long as you get one it's perfect.

We tow our boat on the back of the motor home, I can concur with Vincent, there is no extra cost on the tolls.

Where are you thinking of going in Northern Spain ?

Thank you all for your replies, the place we are thinking of is Pepignon France. How long does it take to tow from Calais to Fréjus?

From memory about 11-12 hours with no stops, but we have 3 children so we end up stopping every 3 or 4 hours.

We drive from Manchester so we stop over somewhere around Lyon overnight which breaks the journey up nicely. It means that you've got the longest part of the journey over with and the run from Lyon to Frejus is only about 4-5 hours. For the overnight stay we use the cheap Premiere Classe or Campanile Hotels. They're basic but cheap. :-)

If you want to make it a little cheaper, pack a tent, and use the Autoroute via Rouen and down through Millau, same distance at least 1/2 the price on the tolls, and a lot better route due to not as much traffic.

Enjoy your trip

Thanks again, if you stay over night is your boat safe just in the car park?

We've never had any problems. We chain it up and put the wheel clamp on, and so far at least, everything's been ok.
