Eating’s cheating!

Just take lots of water and a flask of something hot, you might lose that new belly you are sporting.

On the Round Ireland I was fine with dry fruits , dry meat , nuts - all waterproof packed - and water . At sea I was never really hungry and a few fruits & water gave me enough energy to get on .I never had the wish for a hot coffee or tea although weather was not always nice .
Bananas are great and would be my first choice but in most marinas hard to get ..
Sausages are also nice - the german team had them but they should not be too spicy so that you wish to drink plenty of water after .
Coolbox would be nice but it should be than a compressor box . The other car stuff does not work well and for simple cool boxes you always need ice - which is also hard to get every morning .
The best thing after being the whole day at sea is to have the first COLD BEER in the evening at the pub

The French crew that did round Britain with us in 1999 had a flexitank of red wine on board!

KISS is the rule, Keep It Simple Stupid, take stuff you can eat and drink without knocking you're teeth out.

Taking food that turns to mush will not really be worth eating
My favourite was Mars bars and water while at sea
Loads of bottled water is a must, if you're wearing a dry suit then wash then neck seal in water to keep the salt off it, wash you're face for same reason

Unless you're on a cabin RIB, that won't survive the first hour

The cool box was more about protecting the victuals from getting BTF (Battered To Feck) than keeping cool. Nobody wants a battered banana. We keep, the silverware, china & crystal glasses in ours when we're out

These are great and one of the best self heating options - HotCan - the tasty hot lunchtime alternative, no microwave, no kettle, just...hot can

These are used at work as they are easy to pack in a fire engine - MREs for Sale Online | Self Heating Meals from Hot Pack | Instant Hot Rations for Camping, Military, Outdoor, Army, mountaineers, anglers

Seen these but never used them - High Calorie Food for Camping ::Camping Food :: RTE Wet Meals :: Self-Heating Meals

When you have a moment I'm curious to know what you took, and what you used/learnt/wished you had got on your RIB-based dining.

90% of all bars , dry fruits etc we took back home .
Reason was simple - the entire trip was planned in an excellent way . Beside of good breakfasts in the morning - usually a full English - we had also almost every day good lunch stops .
The boats who arrived first in the evening reserved for all a table for dinner .
On comparison to the Round Ireland O did not even loose weight

Yep, A full English, Irish or Scottish every morning, maybe a serial bar or some mixed nuts in the day. I had a berocca every morning.

The worst thing was having somewhere for your drinks bottles during the day that was close to hand without them ending up on the deck near the transom!

Chocolate melts, beer cans split and everything gets covered in saltwater.

On the plus side we found some great places to eat

I put on weight mostly mussel across my shoulders through holding on when the mad German was driving

We did have a water supply and enough nuts and suff if we needed them.

Thanks all for your input, I'll do a write up after the boat show

Don't do what countless sailing clubs do and get the catering people to bag up a few sandwiches made with grated cheese & mayo!

Echoing the above I'd go for a stack of mars bars (but get the smaller ones - then you can eat the whole lot in a oner & not worry about the resulting sticky mess as the caramel bit does it;s impressions of an Asterix Fondue!) Also the fruit &nut chewy bars are good - the food stays dry, but be careful as some are very dry and will turn to fine ground dust in your pocket!

Only down side is you end up eating compressed hamster food all day!

Kemndal mint cake is a good source of neat sugar if you need a hit, but again go for the small bars as it also absorbs water nicely then turns to concrete when it dries out.

Back to the bananas that's what a lot of the dinghy guys eat before races - due to the slow release carbs & all that.

Bananas are best - agree - but as earlier mentioned hard to get when you arrive at the marina ..
What I would do differently and taking Alex comments into consideration about drinking water - I would install again water bottle brackets on the grab rail which accommodating 1.5 liter bottles - with a hose and valve for drinking .
Had this last year on my Searider round Ireland where I was mostly single handed and it worked perfectly well !
Some people were smiling but used this system already many years before doing enduro dirt bike races .
It also prevents bottles flying around and prevents dehydration .
