I use these flat fenders from www.marinemegastore.com on my boat. Bit pricey but they do a good job. I've got 3 of them & fitted little stainless snap shackles on each fender so i can clip them onto any of the D rings of the life lines around the boat.Still a pain in the back side getting them out of the locker and fitting them every time i pull up at the slip tho! Lazy Git that i am

Tie your mooring line to the bow eye (the one that you clip the winch strap to on the trailer), then use a short length of rope with a big loop round the mooring line. then tiee the loose end loosely back to something in the rib. Then when you want your painter back, you pull on the recovery line to get the anchor / mooring rope back.

Works a treat on the "luxury" Avon SR4s where you have that annoying foredeck that means you can't get forward and or secure to anything inside at the bow. They need a 3- ish M recovery line, convenional RIB only needs about a metre and a half.
