Replacing life lines

Hi, I'm thinking of replacing my lifelines and was thinking about a DIY approach.

I was thinking about using some nylon braided rope like 9mm Black General Purpose Braided Nylon Rope 15m Metres | eBay

and then using some PVC tubing like the following 12MM BLACK PVC FLEXIBLE SLEEVING / TUBING - CABLE WIRING HARNESS PROTECTION | eBay

Do you think this would work?

Thanks

Gareth

The pipe - may not be UV stable but otherwise would be fine.

The braided - what's your plan? Splicing ? I find Splicing braid harder than three ply. Would you want the tubing over the tail of the splice? 3mm spare may not be enough, other thing is you'll probably want to pull it out the way - may be tricky too.
May also not be UV stable but at least the bit in the tube would be protected.

Did you eventually go down this diy route Woody; if so, did you use the products you identified on ebay, or something else?

A Yorkshireman but now an adopted Scouser as I am married to one. However I will not be adopting the scouse accent, its pronounced work not werk!

P.S. I have not mastered the multi quote reply to a post yet
