Raising the screen

Having just fitted a new Radio and GPS/plotter to the top of the console on my Ribcraft, the existing plastic smoked screen wasn't tall enough.

Looked online and found the following company and got an off cut 5mm thick smoked polycarbonate sheet from them cut to the size i requested.

I ordered on a Friday and it came on Monday.

I drilled and cut to shape and fitted to front of original screen, raising it by enough to protect new electronics.

Total cost of project, 30.75 euro for Polycarbonate including delivery.

4.45 euro for new stainless bolts as added thickness required slightly longer.

Sea trial scheduled for Thursday if weather holds.

Anyone in Ireland needs plastic for screen i recommend this company, very helpful, i spoke to a guy called John Scott, he also said a company next door will form to shape if you need it.

Well, sea trial yesterday. launched at Slade, steamed around Hook Head and up the river towards Duncannon. All electronics worked fine, was running with a friends 6M XS RIB. Was amazed how dry the little ribcraft is. We were up to 30 knots at one point and still was getting a very dry ride in a SE F3-4. Roll on the better weather

Beware of going too high with the screen. Nothing more annoying than trying to helm with the top of the screen right in your eyeline.
