I had this discussion recently with other instructors, the RYA guidance is to repeat "up to 3 times" but sadly some teach this as a target.

My approach is to call the receiving station once the first time, twice the second time and stop after the third try. Some say this is wrong, but have experienced this practice many many times over the years.

And we all drive at 13:50 with both hands feeding the wheel at all times.....

Have done the course try to use the radio when I can to keep my hand in but throw me unexpectedly overboard, or set my craft on fire and expect a text book response ...... I doubt it.... hopefully enough stays in that they can understand me the other end!
