Question for Gecko owners

Why did you chose to buy a Gecko?

Having used it, how do you rate it? Comfortable? Easy to use? Good value?

How often do you use it? What, if anything, could be better?

Wanted to vote twice......as you know keeping my bonce warm is also a fairly high priority...

PS anyone want to buy two yellow Geckos, short face shields, little used....?

Yes.

Well most probably, do you have a picture of the short face shields? Were after some full face ones but could be convinced.

Strange you should post this JK. I did a search just a couple of days ago on the one you brought down to Rib Raid is it any good because with it being the Christmas season I was thinking of a Present for yours truly

I got mine originally cos im a victim of fashion and I thought they looked cool. Having owned one for two years now I can safely say Im very glad I did! In the rain or serious chop it really does come into its own; you dont get bullets of rain in your face, it keeps you warm and dry and you can see where your going.

I have a question: mine has the short face shield. Do people with the full face one find it fogs up?

Love my Gecko!

Initially bought to stay warm (after a memorable return from Alderney in the freezing cold!) but it has the added advantage of shielding from rain when helming.

It wasn't my favourite colour but a couple of good friends have rectified that!

MY NEW GECKO IS PINK!!!!

It's light, effective with the full face visor and easy to use.
Expensive but good value.
We use the Gecko's in winter and stormy weathers.
I would not buy another one.
The capsules for the ear holes keep falling out. Very annoying.

I never used to be a fan of the Gecko.
They have kinda grown on me and like them now.
Mine goes with me all the time now, even in the Summer.
Always carried not always worn.
I have two visors, full face clear and a half face dark tint.
On a white lid makes me look like a fighter pilot, no it does honest

Or as some kind person said like I am ready to be shot our of a canon.....how rude!

We have started to use them on the patrol boat this season to great effect, the crew love them.

I like the comms option and use the D S ones.
That reminds me must get them changed from Icom to Standard Horizon!!!

IMHO they are now worth every penny.

Hi John,

I bought mine to protect me: -
1. From the wind/rain in my eyes (I Wear Contact Lenses).
2. Keeps my Head warm in winter.
3. Just incase I stuff it big time. Ask Andre's Wife.
4. Have tinted and clear visor for sunny/cloudy days.

However, I Always forget to take it with me when I really Need it

My passenger lifted the full face visor at a speed of 85km/hr to be able to speak to me, but the visor blew away.

Advise: keep one hand to it.

I have two full face ones - bought them for racing then the RYA banned them, bit of a long story attached to that one, but I liked them in the RIB. Lighter so less strain on the neck muscles than heavier helmets - never had to use them for impact resistance though - probably not as good as bike helmets in that respect but better in others!
