Hi Manos
Sorry not very clear - sort of mud like wasn't it
What I meant was I hope yours is much faster than the one we sold.
Having looked at the photos it's a completely different craft so disreguard the last post.
Have fun
Jelly

Manos, hate to say this but Rupert Bear is right you have no chance of getting 28 knots with 40 hp. MPH possibly but not knots regardless of what the sales blurb or manufaturers says. Best chuck it into the water use a hand held GPS and let us know what is does.

My 5.2 Sparrowhawk in racing format with new 60 hp Merc did 26 knots at WOT. Thats 30 mph.

If we are out in a gale I will stay on the 8m if you don't mind

Pete

Pete thanks. Speed is not the issue here. Even if it doas 25 knots @ WOT and 8-10 in a gale I'm happy.
In any case will test it and let you all know

Manos, fair point. That engine cover looks awfully big for a 40, is it a down rated 60/70 engine ?

Don't know Pete but the engine type is SJ40 and is Heavy duty for commercial use.
The surveyor told me today that this engine can push the boat with full load through a brick wall. So I assume that it must have loads of CCs.
WATERCRAFT just faxed me a few documents from the calssification societies and SOLAS but I do not have the full paper load yet. So I do not know engine capacity details and the like.

Edit: ENGINE TYPE SJ40RPLB-40HP

Rescue Boat & Speed

Hi Manos,

Congratulations on finding a suberb outfit to suit your needs. I hope you get many hours of pleasure and work from her.

Speed is not everything, even when a rescue boat is being considered for work. Good luck with your new venture, and if i'm in the greak isles I will come looking for you for accomodation & boat hire.

Regards.

Thanks Aging Y
Now have to persuade the Greek Coastguard that the RIBs are fine.
When they are here we will have to have a test and will post photos (that will be a laugh)
In 2005 we will have an International RIB race in Santorini but further news to follow (after I talk to the secretary of a certain UK organisation next week)

PS Aging Y you are very wellcome. Sorry a bottle of Drambuie does not help with concentration LOLOL

Bottle of Drambuie

Hi Manos,

Not to worry I have been cuddling a bottle of very good, french red wine, plus a lot of beers to wash it all down.

I hope your registration goes well with the local authorities!! I look forward to seeing all the pictures.

Lucky you Aging Y. I have a stray dog that I found on the mountain for company (lab and something else cross) and a bottle of Drambuie. Just had the last drop of it. I have tequila but better not mix it
Need to talk about the race thing. Will call you if you don't mind once I speak with the Org.

Hi Kevin

I know this has nothing to do with ribs but have you got anything against French red that you have to wash it down with beer. If so then strongly advise Chilean red no need to wash down with anything, say Casillero del Diablo, a first class vine remember the B & Q (oh I mean BBQ must be already thinking of the spring)

Wine, Women & Song!

Hi Andre & Manos.

How could I ever forget that BBQ, it was a pity I was driving that night but Mike will certainly never forget that one

I like any good red, whether its from South Africa, Australia, Spain or Chilli. I like trying as many as I can

For my own personal taste I prefer the following Shiraz or Merlot. Cabernet Survigion.

Manos call me when ever you want to, I will help as much as I can.

See you soon Andre

Cheers. Have to stay in Greece till next Wed when I'll go to Santorini with my solicitor to talk with the Coastguard and hopefully will clear up some safety issues that I have raised with them.
Be in the UK following weekend.
Will try to call you at the end of next week if that's OK.

Many Thanks Kevin

if your watercraft hull is the same as that built in the uk it is also the same hull as Ribtecs 535 although the Ribtec has a wider flange and transom to give it a bit more beam . the early ribtec 535 was actually mouled by watercraft at Gosport Hampshire
