Powerboat Racing in Guernsey

Nice to see you Cooks!
Must say, thought the marshaling was abysmal. Batboat momenatarily stuffed into a tiny wavelet, navigator was ejected and 2 boats almost ran him over before the flags came out.

great racing

I think the safety team may admit to being a little rusty on the Saturday, but the coverage of safety boats on the Sunday race was very good.

We were north of the Gouliot Passage and managed to get some good photos, will post as soon as...

Nice to see youu too Charles - yes we saw Dave Simpkins helmet in the water first and slowed down and drove around him as there were rescue boats nearer - never saw a yellow flag though ........

R7 is a Phantom Evolution with an Evinrude 200HO on it - they are doing the whole championship and Egypt as well - it's their first season racing but I think they've got the bug already!

Looking forward to seeing the photos from the passage - it was amazing driving through there! The other memorable bit was the North side of the Island on saturday - big atlantic rollers doing over 70mph and 74mph on the GPS up the start run - it was a proper offshore race and we can't wait for next year!

I think the fact that it was held in St Sampsons added to the event, St Peter Port can be a bit spread out...plus I didn't have far to stagger back to the Sunseeker!
All in all some excellent close racing, some thrills and spills and a good social event or two!

Check out http://www.channelonline.tv/news/channelreport/ Monday for some footage of the race!

See you boys again in Cowes
