Plastic External Fuel Tanks

Hey,

Got a simple question...

On the plastic, external fuel tanks - they have a screw vent - closed = no venting, open = allowing venting.

Simply - when should it be closed, and when should it be open?

Cheers

Simple, cheers...

Presume, when running needs venting so air can fill the space left by the emptying fuel...

and closed when not running to keep rubbish out?

Says the man who has never had a fuel can in the back of a car on a sunny day.

If the vent is closed and the temp rises you will have pressure build up inside the tank and the fuel will piss out the outlet.

But you will very quickly pick things like this up
