Overnight Bearthing, Ribex

Local knowledge required please.

I am staying at the Anchor Inn on the Friday and Saturday night of Ribex. I have spoken with the Marina and they cannot accomodate my boat. I do not know the area and am looking for idea's of a suitable bearth for a 8 metre rib for the two nights. Any suggestions most welcome.

Hello Ollie

Speak to Shepards as they may be able to berth you. It is only 5 min walk from the high street.

Spoken with Shepards and they dont expect to be busy but will not take a pre booking. Not sure how I feel about that. Its a long way back to Newcastle if I cannot get in....

I wouldn't worry too much - you will be able to find space somewhere.

East Cowes Marina should have space. You'll have to cross the river on the chain ferry or by water taxi though.

I keep my boat at shepards. As long as thier are no major races on that weekend then you shouldnt have a problem. As Daniel says their is east cowes marina but this is a treck from the Yacht Haven where RIBEX wil be. Web address for shepards is http://www.shepards.co.uk/

You could always tie up to one of the Visitors swinging moorings off the Parade. They are in beween the Yacht Squadron & The Island Sailing Club. The Water Taxi could then drop you off on the shore.

Sounds like I have lots of options and should stop worrying. I will have faith and just turn up. However if I end up homeless then I would ask that all bring me beer and curry to my anchor point in the Solent during my cold overnight sadness

Certainly Sir, we can also do Pizza or Fish and Chip deliveries to our more discerning clients

Had the same worries last year and they squeezed us all in somewhere.

I was just thinking the same. I am sure the Yacht Haven will squeeze you in.
