don't listen

to all the Isprey owners cos they are obviously biased! I on the other hand am an ardent searider fan and have no intention of buying an Osprey and I think they are extremely well made boats and are really good in a rough sea

Nice set-up. Make sure the engine has a good service record, if it's an optimax this is essential

I own a 6.2m Vipermax which was made in 2007 from the same mould the one you're looking at. It's tube ends in water underway, which takes a little bit off of top speed but IMHO adds to the handling. They are pretty quick when the going gets tough and will leave plenty of other RIBs in their wake.

I would look closely at the tube manufacture and check all the seams etc. I've had issues with my seams coming apart, nothing too serious and all the work I to rectify I did myself, but be warned!

Other that that, they are terriffic boats and you'll never feel caught out in bad weather.

i had a viper not the vpermax (i think...) but best boat i ever had, took me everywhere i wanted to go always with complete confidence. i went a lot of places, almost always in the rough and often offshore (alderney, france, sillies) often solo, in my trusty 6m viper and 150 optimax.

after this i had a 6.5m ribtec, now a 9m ribtec but i'd still prefer to be out in a F8 in the viper.

In comparison we did this trip on a good day and it took less than an hour from L'Aber W'rach to Ouessant!

Not really. More of a back-handed compliment I thought

Anyway, you're still alive then. Thought for a while that Sedbergh had swallowed you whole.

If you'd had your 300 hour lip-service, you wouldn't be suffering from plateautudes...
