I'm on my 2nd, the 6.5 Vipermax is superb offshore hull. We've hit some pretty chunky seas on Scilly trips with both the 6.5 and the 7m, they do the job well.

Some more detail would be nice, pics would be excellent. What size Mercury, what is the fit out. Bugger, I'm off salivating again
Great in the rough, none better in my view. Bought mine to deal with the infamous Solent chop, it deals with this and the bigger stuff very well. Not the fastest hull, if numbers are your thing, there is too much hull in the water to be the fastest in calm-ish conditions, but throw some lumpy stuff at it and ................

More info will be nice. A 5.8/6.2m is a slightly different design to a 6.5 and if you're talking 6m then thats a Viper not a Vipermax

Incredibly well built boat but heavy as a consequence. The increased weight gives it a great advantage in heavy sea's though as we found out with ours this summer. We mis-timed the tides and crossed the 'Raz de Sein' on the westernmost tip of Brittany at nearly full flood.....(the Raz de Sein on a bad day . ) The tidal rip was creating a nasty 2 to 2.5 meter swell which caused us some worrying moments but all credit to Gwenn, she punched through it admirably. Reminded me very much of some of the aluminium 3tonne FRC's (fast rescue craft) i have previously driven during time spent offshore.
I would recomend one that's for sure

Simon

Just like any deep v though. If you want outrught speed, it's a no. Go buy a bass boat. If you want to maintain speed in the chop and keep going in a sea, I'm under the impression they're great. Our Humber OP is similar, big deep V. I love it.

Ferk dat Anchor!

Your boat in Jim's hands, ourselves and DHD skimmed Lizard Point a little tighter than we intended on returning from the Scillies a couple of years ago. I remember powering up a face that was as tall as the boat was long as it was curling about to break. We shot out of the top of it going skyward, it was a square mile of mayhem. The trio of VMs performed with aplomb. My Hi-fits required hosing out.

Viper/Vipermax don't have a particularly deep V hull

Comparable to buying a Volkswagen. Not necessarily the most exciting model out there, but generally solid and reliable.

Well it's not a shallow v and I'd not view it as a mid v. It's not n out and out speed boat. It's for waves. It's a standard deep v unless I'm wrong?
