why so much?

Thanks chaps for the info. 205 litres will be fine for us. We run commercially.
The other reason was simply that at £23-25 per 4 litres its too much of a factor per run.
The 3rd reason is simply me being tight!!

the drum of 205 litres will be brilliant. My local dealer didn't seem to be aware of it so maybe a call to barrus tomorrow?

thanks for info

Group buys

As a sad individual who also looks at other forums a lot of the car related ones organise group buys for items that a lot of forum users buy , maybe we should be doing this with stuff like Optimax oil and other high volume items . Just a thought and no I don't want to organise it !

Mike, I bought 18 4l bottles (3 boxes with 6 bottles in each) from Barnet Marine when I was picking up my new RIB and it cost me £333 for 76 litres (£18.50 for a 4 litre bottle)

Don't know if this is a good rate or not, but its certainly a lot less than what we pay for it in Ireland!! Please post the rate for a 205l drum

Don't see why we can't buy a drum, give to some suitable intermediary, supply our individual plastic bottles....... Am I tight too, or understimating the logistical challenge? Any volunteers?? They should be able to make a reasonable profit...

oil rate

I have agreed to buy a 208 litre this morning.
The numbers look like this.

Best 4ltr price £17.50 plus vat = £1103.03 for 52 bottles.
best 208 litre price £600 plus vat=£727.27 for same quantity plus £30 for pump=£757.27

saving to me =£346 or approx 1/3!!

definately worth it.

I also found a better rate for the iridium plugs £22.50 from mercury
or £12.00 from the dealer I found subject to 12 being bought each time.
if anyone has found better prices let me know!!
the sprk plug pricing saves me £120 per service (2 engines)

I'm looking at going to us as they sell for only $9.80 in states!!!!!

I bought a drum last year! It worked out OK for us as we had the oil don tap literally . try and keep the Drum indoors if you can cos the oild doesn't like the cold and can gain hydroscopic tendancies. It can absorb some water as well

Still have 14 bottles left to get through I'm afraid so I'm well stocked up for next season. I was quite surprised at how little oil the Opti's burn after you've run them in through the over-oiling period.

Mike,

Where did you get the plugs from?
Sounds like a good deal.
