How long is a piece of string🤷*♂️ it all depends on what you’re going to use it for & how deep your pockets are. Do you want to use it as an oil rig support vessel in the North Sea or to sleep a family of 4 in the Aegean.

The Buzzi rib “pippa” that just did the Poole race is both fast and can take a hell of a pounding

Highfield 8.6m Patrol with suspension seats would give a great ride and cope with virtually anything you could throw at it I suspect.

The thing is, once you get >6m, any RIB will be capable of more than the passengers/crew will be able to take. It’s a bit of a pointless question IMO. The OP needs to buy what is available in his area to suit his needs & budget. That’s if he’s actually in the market & not just making small talk at the bar.

There would be many more capable boats that I'd think of before I got to a highfield too

A Highfield would be on the list of potentially suitable craft, just not on the top of the list..............nor the middle.........................

I wonder how many people who rubbish Highfields have actually been out on one, or even seen a recent one up close.

Just saying.

It would be interesting to know the stats for the number of boats that ever go more than ~5 miles from the coast. Bet it's not very many.

Don't think anyone was actually rubbishing highfields it's just they wouldnt fit into most folks Idea of a well proven offshore rib.
Halmatic, Delta, Redbay, Avon Ribcraft & even the ops Scorpion would all feature above a highfield in a list answering the ops question . It seemed odd the first name out of the bag was highfield imho
