new to ribbing, can anyone help??

Hi all, new to this site and to ribbinng, so asking for advice, i recently had a zodiac cadet 310s with a mariner 10hp on and that was crazy fast( for a little boat) 23 knots! So, ive got the bug and want to move on to bigger and better things, looking at a few online. I need something reliable well built and sturdy/sea worthy. Does anyone know what Avon sr4 are like?
have a max budget of 3k. Has to have a fiberglass hull and be a newish outfit (late 90's on)

Thanks, Chris

Welcome to Ribnet.
You're asking a lot-you'll prob get something for that, but it'll be a very poor boat compared with the usually preferred option of a 4m Searider (which you definitely won't get for that price and newish)

Don't be afraid to look at older searider boats with newer engine's... my searider is 33 years old and I'd still trust it in any sea's even though its had a few patch's and a bit of hull work... you should get a nice "older" set up for 3k... don't forget to budget for a good VHF Radio

I have a 50hp Mercury on a 4m Searider and its goes really well... even with 4/5 aboard people it goes ok. You can even pull skiers if they've got good technique.

Great starter size RIB, easy to launch, easy to handle and normally good re-sale interest... might be worth getting the engine looked over by a pro depending on its service history and your mechanical knowledge... really inspect the hull for damage too etc. and always have a lengthy test drive - and not just one lap of the bay - happy rib'ing !
