New purchase

Hello to everyone,

I checked recently this forum which I found very interesting so
well done to all of u n keep on trying to maintain this alive.

I am about to make a new purchase here in Greece and apart
the local Greek builders have included in my options

a. Ribeye 6.5 - 150 hp yam hpdi (new)

and

b. Cobra 7m Nautique '99 Merc optimax 150hp (2nd hand) or
7m new (called family series but owise pretty much the same as Nautique)

Obviously assistance is required on the above two only, since
the other Greek made products probably not known to u n the market as u may know already is pretty extensive.

I would like to remind u though that the UK ribs imported in
Greece i.e. Ribeye/Cobra/Scorpion/Revenger are with the so called
Meditteranean deck with sundecks, lockers etc etc i.e. heavier.

I am just saying that for the people who may think that the Ribeye with 150hp is overpower.

So, pleased to receive your comments on the above boats as I plan to have one ordered mayby within next 10 days.
There is a boat show in Athens next week (very good one) n
I don't want to miss any good offers on either the above

Pleased to reciprocate whenever a forum member needs any local info/assistance.

Awaiting yours
Enalios or Nikos

info

I'll tell you what I told enalios. Having returtned from holiday whewre I spotted a Nautique open bow, I posted a pic on the forum and later contacted both them and Prestige (following a reply to my original post). I received a mass of information, pretty pictures, prices, terms, stats, specs etc from both, which, I filed on my computer under a section I have for just that sort of thing. Now for the life of me I can't find it anywhere. I've asked our Systems Administrator (IT Geek) to have a look for me, so with a little luck I may be able to get hold of it today. As and when, I'll forward it to all who are interested by email.

Enalios,

I am on my second Ribeye, I hope to pickup my new (well, 1 Yr old) tomorrow.

They are good boats, I have no issue with how they handle, the build quality etc.

I am still very new to this sport, still very much a novice, but in the last 12 months I have taken my little 5m Playtime in to some pretty big, lumpy water of the south coast of the UK.

I have parted with my little 5m and replaced it with a 7.5m Sports. If I weren't happy with the boat, I would have certainly looked at another manufacture.

My only advice to you, and I have learnt this at my own cost, is to take the EXACT SPEC boat out your self, with the number of adults that you would expect to have on board. I don't how the dealers work locally to you, but over here, they have a very bad habit of "over selling", and trying to get you to go out on a test with a bigger boat, saying "it's the same hull" & "It will handle the same", when clearly it want.

Good luck with your purchase

Tks yr reply - on yr 2nd boat?? feel u sd be out of 'novice' by now

Locals here hv the same habit but don't worry hv learnt as well
at my expence. (in boating for some 14 yrs now)

The Ribeyes built in Greece are only for the local market and present owners declare huppy but def will try to check on the quality further since boat/tubes makers are known local factories. In addition during construction u can visit any time u want so they are a bit more carefull. The hull design is the same used in UK n that's where the forum's experience is usefull. The dealer
n some present owrs I asked were so overwhelming that makes me reluctant. Is it really that good ?? or its the usual 'my boat is the best'

On my question to why the hull design doesn't follow the usual
raised bow the reply was that this is now old fashion n boats like
ribeye n revenger don't follow this. any comments ??

I have had a RibEye 7.5m for one season after having had a sportsboat previously.

I am extremely pleased with it in all aspects and really cannot find any fault with it at all, both in handling and quality. The same goes for the Yamaha engine (apart from a small rigging fault)

I am getting closer to this one but I will decide after the Athens boat show next week (case something more interesting come's up)

The dealer here favours the hpdi i/o 4s wt's yr idea about this
as I am sure u hv hd this consideration b4 making up yr mind.

I'm no expert but I reckon a 150 on the back of a 6.5m sounds right.

I thought the hpdi Yam was a stroke, I only chose the 4 stroke for it's quietness.
