new osprey rib

Hey everybody.

Just bought another rib this afternoon.

It's a Osprey 7,4 meter rib with a hard nose.
Has a Johnson 175 hp 2 stroke behind it wich is almost new.

Don't know the type of model though. Can anybody reccognise the model ?

Dan.

Everything in the body loved the cruising with the Jokerboat except my back.
Now we will be able to take some more waves and still will be able to hold my beer afterwards.

The Joker will be for sale after next summer.

First want to build a new console and jockeys and take the raceconsole out.
She needs some small repairs and that will be done by a professional.
This wil take some months work and i don't want to enjoy this summer without using a boat.

Looks like a Lynx. Rated to 200hp with a hull speed of 55knots.

Is it a lynx, Petrov?

If anyone would know you must surely be the man.

Hi Danny;

It`s an Osprey XR24 (maybe 26, in the UK they meassure the boats different from us)
The Lynx came after the XR range.
Here is a pic of how the Lynx bow looks like.

PS: If you look at the serialnumber you can se what model it is.

Could'nt find anything on the boat.
That's what I was looking for. Thanks Petrov.
The nose is indead a bit different.
It would be a 24 I think. 7.4 meters.

Any idea when they stopped manufacturing the XR series ?

Dan.

Yes about 94 / 95 time. Still think the XR is a nicer looking boat.

Some of the boats had the date of tube manfacture written in pen inside the front bow locker so would be worth having a good look with torch and mirror.

Not impossible, really hard to se difference between them in the hull and tubes.
The console are little different from the Osprey console today (dont know how they looked at that time)
And the A-frame is not an Osprey frame, but it can be somehting selfmade.

osprey would have tubes made from pennel fabric ,vector would have tubes made from aerazur fabric , different colour shades , pennel fabric marks quite easy leaving a whitish line if you scratch it with your fingernail also has grey neoprene backing aerazur has black neoprene back

found it.

I've let the air out of the tube on one side and could find a orange piece of hypalon on the end of the tube, inside the locker. The date is june 1997.

Just have picked her up from the seller en took her for a small spin in the test-bassin.
Engine started at once and is running fine. Lots of noise when you are used to hear a fourstroke. Much power though.

Took a real good look at the boat but could'nt find any cracks.

There is a tank under the back seat.

Papers also say it's a lynx 24 but you can tell them anything you want.

When she is cleaned up I will make some more pics for you guys.

See ya,

Dan.

It's hard to tell from your photo, but the XR was a more bulbous hard nose than the the Lynx. Also, the XR had a groove on the top of the nose for a cleat fitting whereas the Lynx was a checkerplate plate effect in the gel.

Post a pic of the front.
