New boat

having had a 6.2 valiant for the past few years i did the responsable thing when my daughter was born 8 weeks ago, i sold it.

Then as all thoughtful fathers and partners do when taking on new responsabilitys in the world of nappies and sleepless nights, i bought another RIB telling my new family it was just a little boat that we can use when the sunshines etc etc.

It is a ribcraft 5.3 with a 90 suzuki on the back and although it is alot slower than the valiant every other comparison stops there, this boat is fantastic, the most fun i have had on the water in long time, it begs you to seek out the rough stuff and go at it like a eh hem a responsable hoolagan!

a few questions if anyone can help?

1) i seem to be getting through the jungle juice rather quickly, what kind of consumption can i expect with 1 up and a full tank of fuel (90 ltr under deck tank fitted)?
2) Max speed is 34knots at 6000rpm with an ally prop fitted not sure of pitch etc - is this OK?
3) Can anybody explain the hull catogory rating - this hull is rated as a b cat which is the same as my friends 8mtre Cobra? how and why?
4) I want to buy another 1 or 2 more life jackets -Any suggestions?

Cheers

damo

As well as the wide range available from the website in Stephen's link, there are also Crewsaver:

http://www.crewsaver.co.uk/

and Ocean Safety:

http://www.oceansafety.com/leisure-c...fejackets.aspx

Both available from chandlers and online retailers.

Cheers

I assume it's a four stroke Suzi 90? Your WOT RPM seems ok-it's just on the high side of central (5300-6300), which is about where you want it if you're playing in the rough stuff. What prop is on there?

Suzi 90 4 stoke, it has a 3x14 x 19" ali prop, the edges are a little scuffed so wondering if i should change to a S/S prop, could this improve performance? by fitting a S/S would i need to change pitch or size?
