I've seen those pointy anti radar boats down at Poole a few times in the past, single seat wide but several seats (RICS I think they were called?). Seen one coming out of the harbour one evening whilst I was windsurfing off the Sandbar, they were fully lit.

And they had those triple propped bigger things too - 1000hp per prop apparently. They were often parked up on the hardstanding there. Not seen them recently though. They looked the mutts!!
Oooh - Here is one showing on Google maps moored up in their marina! https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=ut...ed=0CDAQ8gEwAA

Yes the Chinooks are ancient beasts and there's nothing classified about them. The design is also sold commercially for logging and remote utility installations.

Although if one were at US government auction it probably wouldn't be in a condition anywhere near able to fly home. More like a big collection of parts waiting for restoration. There's a very active warbird community here restoring planes and helos like this. Most only fly a few times a year -in part due to the insane fuel bills but also because for the out of production ones you have to make spare parts in a machine shop so they really never see frequent use.

Now just imagine filling the 7,800 liter fuel tank
