Musing over future Round Britain trips...

Seems to me there is a clear interest in this ......

Some very basic questions........exactly what do we have in mind ?

Round Ireland , all of Scotland and England , or is that too ambitious ?

So perhaps round Ireland merits a trip in it's own right ?

Cut off top of Scotland ? Perhaps ( but this is a part I'd really like to see ! )

Clockwise or anti ? Alan P says go clockwise . I wouldn't argue with him .

Much as I'd love to take La Bamba around , ( and I will if we can source fuel & perhaps crew ? ) diesel seems an easier option .

Lastly , I would only set off with a decent weather window . I don't mind a bit of naff weather but I wanted this experience to be an enjoyable one , not an endurance test ... So what time of year ?

Needless to say I guess you would always need a few days contingency in any such plan.

Six in all and each trip was different and memorable for different reasons. We tend to use a circumnavigation as a sea trial now stopping only once for fuel in Scrabster. We must meet up for a beer, I am well overdue a stop on the IOMEGA to meet up with old friends. Alan P

My experience of trying to organise anything by collective agreement is that it won't happen! If you want to do it, you'll need to pick some dates, a rough route etc and then say "who else is in"... otherwise a year on you'll still be discussing whether July is better than August and trying to deal with the people who want to go "all the way" and those who want to go through the canal.

You might want to think about how many boats you want to join you... too many brings its own headaches. On your "own" is more of a challenge (?) but looses some of the camaraderie. But two boats doubles the chances that you have to abandon the whole trip because one boat drops out and the other doesn't want to go solo...

If you decide you want to do a Round Britain, then do it. Don't talk about it, just do it and to hell with everyone and everything else.
There are so many ifs and buts that you will spend your whole time working them out and trying to find an answer.
There isn't one.

Just do it!
