Morecambe Bay and surrounding area

Hi All,

Looking for some advice.

With Wales still closed to the 12th April I am looking for a good spot in North West England to launch my 5m RIB, explore with a bit of wakeboarding for the kids and recover it at the end of the day. From researching the forums I am thinking that Knott End may be a good option depending in the tides but I can't find any info on if there are any sheltered bays that may be suitable for a spot of wakeboarding. Any thoughts?

Also is there anywhere that you can tie up for an hour in the area to go and get a spot of lunch, any recommendations?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul
Knott-end is a good place to launch from it's a great slip with a very good car park to the top.Its normally usable 2-3 hrs either side of low water. The tides can be fairly strong and at the bottom of the slip there are some cast iron bollards on the landward side that have claimed many a prop ! It's also very muddy.
On the opposite side is Fleetwood and it's very popular with jetskiers.
You can pull up on the shingle beach but don't leave the boat the tide comes in fast
It's possible to wake board up the river also very popular with jetskiers and be mindfull of boats leaving Fleeetwood Marina /dock

Forgot to mention, the Fleetwood to Knott-end ferry uses the slip so don't impede the operation by tying up at the working bit of the slip they are also entitled to make a charge for using the slip

To add from there you can run over to Piel island. Approx 10 miles. There are moorings there and a jetty. Pub will be shut but there is a ruined castle [emoji106]

Thanks for the info and nice to meet you earlier. Knott End was a great place to launch and we had a good day, bit chilly though!
