Max engine for small inflatable RIB

Hello

I have just purchased my first RIB with the orginal intention of just using a play boat to row in. Then I got the idea of sticking a small outboard engine on the back. It is 2.91m Hydro-Force Marine Pro RIB Inflatable Boat Dinghy with a Motor Mount on the back (not built in). Now I have the idea, I would like advice on the largest motor I can put on back with it being an adapter mount as opposed to a built in one. With no experience, I know I certainty do not want an electric one!!

Any advice on what is the largest I could get away with is appreciated

Officially 1.4hp so you are screwed for anything non electric really.

If you dont have it yet cancel it or if less than 7 days send it back would be my advice, save up and get something decent used for not much more money if you want to put a motor on there.

A good old seagul would fit that HP rating (they may say they are 4hp but they aint!) or there is an air cooled 1.2HP outboard available. BUT never seen one second hand - and new thats the same price as the boat...

I bought a wee 2.3m with a fixed transom that will take a 5HP, for a similar price you paid last year. Same capacity (2.5 people).

Not recommending this boat but it's an example.
